Still in the Hood

As you know I am in the Hood...and staying with a friend of ours, Christie, who has been a wonderful hostess! Jaycee has been kinda sick with either allergies or a cold of some type...I really dont know what is wrong with the poor thing anymore. If she doesnt get much better this week, we are dr. bound!

We have been attending lots of parties and its been so nice seeing everyone! I love my hoodies:) Also in the evenings me, JennK, and Christie have been walking and that has been awesome! Oh yeah I have been eating out lots......which is good and bad, bad for the body but good bc its with friends:) We are staying a little longer in the Hood to help C after her surgery. Jaycee and I will probably be going home either Thursday or Friday. This weekend there is a fair in Deridder, LA and we will be going with my inlaws. It will be fun...well my punkin is awake so gotta go! Lots of love!!!

All is well here...

I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern for us during Hurrican Ike. That really meant a lot to me. We had LOTS of wind and some very powerful wind too. I think the local weather man said it got close to 80 mph! We hardly got any rain, it would come and go in spurts. We didnt have electricity for almost 2 days! That sucked! It was a very HOT and HUMID couple of days. Here are a few pics of some down limbs:

Here comes another one!

Well looks like another hurricane is coming our way..I am so ready for hurrican season to be over! I think we may evacuate again, but certainly not to Houston this time. We may go to Mississippi or East Louisiana. When I go get Jaycee from school I am going to gas up the car and get some cash out just in case. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers...Hopefully Ike will be kind to us and the others who are in his path.

Seven years ago I was sitting in Marine Biology with the best teacher ever, Mrs. Treadaway, God rest her soul, when we heard the news of the twin towers and the trade center on 9-11. We were all very nervous and didnt know what else to expect. I was mostly in disbelief. I just sat and stared at the tv. Mrs. Treadaway just stood looking and shaking her head when her eyes filled with tears at the sight of devastation. ROTC was my next class and our commander, retired Major Danny Odom, was infuriated and I quickly knew why. He told us that terrorists had done this, I couldnt understand how someone would do such a terrible thing. I still dont understand. This morning I was driving Jaycee to school and over and over they kept playing news clips of that morning and I just cried for the families that lost loved ones and in absolute appreciation of all of our heroes. I feel very lucky to be married to soldier, or hero as I like to call him. I am a VERY proud army wife, I couldnt be more blessed. I am so grateful to all of our men and women in uniform, and when I say uniform I mean military, policemen, firefighters and anyone who protects us. God bless the USA!

Lots of good stuff to do

The PEP RALLY

Friday afternoon was Jaycee's first ever pep rally. She had a great time but was kind of confused why everyone was yelling. She just watched and stared at everything that was taking place on the gym floor. Her cousin Gracie is on the school's dance team and Jaycee got really excited when she saw her perform..and of course J had to shake her booty too:) Im sure we will be going to more in the near future because I have to admit I like them too. Just a little pic of Jaycee still looking confused...lol

LEXI'S FUND RAISING BENEFIT

Saturday we went to a benefit to raise money for a high school friend of James' whose baby was born with a heart condition. The baby, Lexi, was born in June of this year. The mother of the baby, Steph, noticed Lexi was having problems when she would nurse her because she would gasp for air. So Steph decided maybe she should take her to the Dr. just to make sure everything was ok. Good thing she listened to her motherly instints because Lexi had a hole in her heart among a few other heart complications. She was sent to the Childrens Hospital in Houston and has been there for over a month and a half now. At the benefit to raise money for the baby they sold t-shirts, cakes, raffle tickets, bbq plates, had a HUGE garage sale and a big dance that night. It was very nice. I hope they made lots of $$! Please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers. Here is a pic of J making her self at home in one of the strollers they had in the garage sale area:)

We survived Gustav!

Hey everyone we lived to tell the story:) Well J and I left to go to Conroe, TX, on Friday and planned to stay if necessary because of the hurricane...and we did have to stay. We kept hearing on the weather channel it was going to go over the Parish we live in so we decided it was best to be safe than sorry.

We left to come home this morning to our home in one peice and not many limbs or trees down either. We also had power...which I was very glad about because muggy LA in the summer is so not a good idea! We had a little bit of rain since our return but nothing major. I am just very thankful we were all fine! I really hate it for the people in Haiti that are having to stay on their roofs to avoid the flooding waters:( I will for sure be praying for them and everyone else that is affected by these hurricanes. It seems like this hurricane season has just begun:(

Sorry this blog is kinda short but I am exhausted! I hope you all have a good night and thanks again for the sweet birthday wishes:)
