A little update

Well as you know, James came home for R&R 2 days before Thanksgiving. I cant even explain how excited I was to lay eyes on him! I dont think I had ever been that excited! I was kind of worried Jaycee would not want to go to him, but that was totally not the case. She smiled and went right to him! I was so happy that she did that. That was a great night if you know what I mean:) Hehehe....We had Thanksgiving with his family and James fried the turkey which came out excellent. The next day James and I left for our little romantic get-a-way to a little cozy B&B in Breax Bridge, LA. Ahhhh man, we had a great time! Very romantic:) We went to eat at the Bone Fish Grill and the Ruth Chris Steak House...both were excellent!

We also did our little Christmas while he was home and boy did I get spoiled! He was actually wanting to spend some money if you can believe that! Those of you that have heard me talk about James being tight, know what I mean. Jaycee had a wonderful time opening all the presents. She sat in James' lap the whole time opening all the gifts. Of course, she got pretty spoiled too:) I love that man and I couldnt have asked for a better man.

He was suppose to leave Dec. 11th and the airport was an hour away (Lake Charles) and bc he had to be there at 5:45am we decided to stay over night in Lake Charles. That was a very emotional night for me:( When we got up the next morning it was snowing! When we got to the airport his flight had been cancelled!!!!!! I was so freakin excited! So we got one more night with him:)

Well of course, he left the next day and I was actually ok until I got home and Jaycee was asking where daddy was...thats when I fell apart:( That was really hard trying to be strong for her. It took about a week for things to get back to normal but now we are doing pretty good. Well anyways guys I hope you all have a very Happy New Year! Be safe!!!! Love you guys:)

Our Disney Trip

Well we are finally back here in Louisiana! We were AL bound around the 14th of Oct. and stopped in Mobile,AL and stayed the night with a friend of mine from Troy and that was really nice. She took us to a great seafood restaurant near their house. Got up the next morning and drove the rest of the way to Abbeville. Mom and everyone was really glad to see us...especially Jaycee:) We hung out with family for about 4 or 5 days then we left for Disney world! We met up with my best bud in Tallahasee and drove the rest of the way to Orlando the next day..they were very tired bc they were coming from VA. At Disney we visited a park a day and they were VERY LONG days! We would leave the room at like 8:30 and not get back until like 9 or 10 at night! I think my favorite park was Epcot bc while we were there they had a cheese and wine tasting going on..and I thought about you, Christie the whole time:) I drank a glass of wine and ate some cheese for you..lol. We were at Disney for 6 days..we had a great time overall just next time we wont go until Jaycee is a little older. After Disney we went back to mom and dads for a couple more days....went trick or treating and then drove back over here to LA...I must say we had a very nice vacation. Now that we are back home we will just be getting ready for James to come home...its suppose to be around the 23rd but we will see. I am very excited to see him, but I know I am not going to want to say good bye again:( But I guess thats part of it huh? Well I hear Jaycee hollaring for me so you guys take care! Lots of Love:)

Still in the Hood

As you know I am in the Hood...and staying with a friend of ours, Christie, who has been a wonderful hostess! Jaycee has been kinda sick with either allergies or a cold of some type...I really dont know what is wrong with the poor thing anymore. If she doesnt get much better this week, we are dr. bound!

We have been attending lots of parties and its been so nice seeing everyone! I love my hoodies:) Also in the evenings me, JennK, and Christie have been walking and that has been awesome! Oh yeah I have been eating out lots......which is good and bad, bad for the body but good bc its with friends:) We are staying a little longer in the Hood to help C after her surgery. Jaycee and I will probably be going home either Thursday or Friday. This weekend there is a fair in Deridder, LA and we will be going with my inlaws. It will be fun...well my punkin is awake so gotta go! Lots of love!!!

All is well here...

I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern for us during Hurrican Ike. That really meant a lot to me. We had LOTS of wind and some very powerful wind too. I think the local weather man said it got close to 80 mph! We hardly got any rain, it would come and go in spurts. We didnt have electricity for almost 2 days! That sucked! It was a very HOT and HUMID couple of days. Here are a few pics of some down limbs:

Here comes another one!

Well looks like another hurricane is coming our way..I am so ready for hurrican season to be over! I think we may evacuate again, but certainly not to Houston this time. We may go to Mississippi or East Louisiana. When I go get Jaycee from school I am going to gas up the car and get some cash out just in case. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers...Hopefully Ike will be kind to us and the others who are in his path.

Seven years ago I was sitting in Marine Biology with the best teacher ever, Mrs. Treadaway, God rest her soul, when we heard the news of the twin towers and the trade center on 9-11. We were all very nervous and didnt know what else to expect. I was mostly in disbelief. I just sat and stared at the tv. Mrs. Treadaway just stood looking and shaking her head when her eyes filled with tears at the sight of devastation. ROTC was my next class and our commander, retired Major Danny Odom, was infuriated and I quickly knew why. He told us that terrorists had done this, I couldnt understand how someone would do such a terrible thing. I still dont understand. This morning I was driving Jaycee to school and over and over they kept playing news clips of that morning and I just cried for the families that lost loved ones and in absolute appreciation of all of our heroes. I feel very lucky to be married to soldier, or hero as I like to call him. I am a VERY proud army wife, I couldnt be more blessed. I am so grateful to all of our men and women in uniform, and when I say uniform I mean military, policemen, firefighters and anyone who protects us. God bless the USA!

Lots of good stuff to do

The PEP RALLY

Friday afternoon was Jaycee's first ever pep rally. She had a great time but was kind of confused why everyone was yelling. She just watched and stared at everything that was taking place on the gym floor. Her cousin Gracie is on the school's dance team and Jaycee got really excited when she saw her perform..and of course J had to shake her booty too:) Im sure we will be going to more in the near future because I have to admit I like them too. Just a little pic of Jaycee still looking confused...lol

LEXI'S FUND RAISING BENEFIT

Saturday we went to a benefit to raise money for a high school friend of James' whose baby was born with a heart condition. The baby, Lexi, was born in June of this year. The mother of the baby, Steph, noticed Lexi was having problems when she would nurse her because she would gasp for air. So Steph decided maybe she should take her to the Dr. just to make sure everything was ok. Good thing she listened to her motherly instints because Lexi had a hole in her heart among a few other heart complications. She was sent to the Childrens Hospital in Houston and has been there for over a month and a half now. At the benefit to raise money for the baby they sold t-shirts, cakes, raffle tickets, bbq plates, had a HUGE garage sale and a big dance that night. It was very nice. I hope they made lots of $$! Please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers. Here is a pic of J making her self at home in one of the strollers they had in the garage sale area:)

We survived Gustav!

Hey everyone we lived to tell the story:) Well J and I left to go to Conroe, TX, on Friday and planned to stay if necessary because of the hurricane...and we did have to stay. We kept hearing on the weather channel it was going to go over the Parish we live in so we decided it was best to be safe than sorry.

We left to come home this morning to our home in one peice and not many limbs or trees down either. We also had power...which I was very glad about because muggy LA in the summer is so not a good idea! We had a little bit of rain since our return but nothing major. I am just very thankful we were all fine! I really hate it for the people in Haiti that are having to stay on their roofs to avoid the flooding waters:( I will for sure be praying for them and everyone else that is affected by these hurricanes. It seems like this hurricane season has just begun:(

Sorry this blog is kinda short but I am exhausted! I hope you all have a good night and thanks again for the sweet birthday wishes:)

Craziness that is my life:)

So we have been pretty busy the past couple of days..I had to keep J home from school yesterday she has been coughing like crazy, runny nose and all the stuff that goes with icky allergies. When I took her in, the Dr. recommended he put her on a daily allergy regiment. So he perscribed her Zyrtec. She started on it yesterday and hopefully that will help her some. He also made the suggestion that maybe Prissy and Heidi could be part of her allergies and that just broke my heart:( I hope its not them. I love those pups sooo much!

Funny story! Have you guys seen that sonic commercial about that fried ice cream blast? You would have to see the commercial to understand what I am about to say. Well James' neice and nephew love that commercial and put their fingers above their mouth like mustaches and say 2 fried ice creams in a deep voice like the lady does...with that being said the commercial came on the yesterday and J put her finger above her mouth ans started talking in a deep voice!!! It was soooo funny! They pick up the craziest things!

Friday is James' birthday! So I have sent him a couple packages, but man was it hard to get stuff for him. I ended up getting him books, movies, baked him some b-day cookies and candy. I hope he likes it, he is kinda hard to buy for cause he doesnt really tell me what he wants. Saturday is my birthday:) I think J and I are going to Conroe to visit my sister-in-laws for a couple days. It will be nice to visit them.

I have been cleaning all morning so I am about to sit my behind on the couch and rest for a little while! Hope you enjoyed my story:)

I woke up this morning feeling a lot better about the things I posted yesterday. OMG I was reading over my old posts and look at all those freakin typos!!! I need to slow down a little I guess:) I wrote wrong words, I dont know just did all kinds of careless things...next time I will be more careful:)

I thought I would be better by now...

Well, the past couple of days have been really hard for me. I miss him so much. I know he will be home in November to visit but November still feels so far away. I have just had a lot of anxiety and very scared of the things that could happen. I am not trying to upset any of you that are reading this that are going thought the same thing...I just need to vent a little.

I was doing so good about not worrying. I have been praying every day and several times a day that he will come home safely. I miss the way he would kiss me unexpectedly, I miss his sweet smile and silly laugh, I miss seeing him and Jaycee playing while I cooked dinner, I just miss life in general with my husband.

I know things will get much better I am just hitting a down time and it has hit me pretty hard. I am so proud of him and so honored to be his wife. I dont care if its a 12 or 15 month tour, I would wait forever for him. I really appreciate all my great friends that have helped me get thought this thus far, you know who you all are:)

Such a slacker I am!!!

I admit I have not been a faithful blogger, but I am a faithful reader of all my girls blogs:) Anyways there have been many new things going on with the Brooks family....I will start with my sweet little Jaycee starting school. She really loves it! They do arts and crafts, music, go on walks in bye-bye buggies, special time with the pastor, and lots of there little activities. I usually drop her off at like 8 and she stays till about 2:30. That gives me time to work out, run errands and give me some much needed me time.

I found out James will be coming home for R&R in November..which was a little sooner than we had anticipated but that is fine with us. We have a few things planned like me and him going to a nice hotel either in San Antonio or Houston for a night or two, doing some fun activities as a family and just letting him relax some. I am going to put up the Christmas tree up early this year so he can enjoy that. We will probably do Thanksgiving and Christmas combined. I cant even express how happy I am that he going to be home.

October 7th is my anniversary and its going to be such a sad day to spend without my James but heck maybe we celebrate it in Nov. like everything else! Hahaha. Also in October my best bud from high school and her family are going to Disney World so Jaycee and I are going to tag along. I think it will be lots of fun! We are going to have breakfast with the princesses and all that other good stuff you get to do at Disney.

I have finally started working out again! I have been running 2 miles, doing crunches, flutter kicks, and running stairs. It feels so nice to be getting back into shape. I have also been eating better and no more mountain dew! Instead of mountain dew I take a bottle of water and put about a half pack of that crystal light stuff in it and shake it like crazy:) It only has like 5 calories which is soooo much better than my mountain dew that has like 170! If you ladies got any ideas of what I can add to my workout routine pass it my way...I could use some extra ideas so it doesnt get boring.

The pic at the top is I just little treausre that a great gal named Beth took for us in Salado..isnt it great?!

Where is my USB cord for my camera when I need it?!

I have sooo many pics to post but when we moved my USB cord for my camera has gotten lost in the shuffle. Grrrr that makes me so annoyed! Saturday morning we went to James maternal grandmothers side of the family to a reunion and we had a great time. I baked a cheesy chicken casserole and it turned out great! Jaycee had a great time....although she got in a yelling contest with her great aunt Betty(whom everyone is afraid of.) Jaycee was throwing a fit and aunt Betty told her to hush and Jaycee told her, "you mean"! It was really funny:)

Yesterday we went to a water park in Sulphur, LA and boy was it nice and inexpensive too. It had cool slides , big buckets that would pour out on everyone when they filled up, a lazy river, and Jaycee's favorite they had a big area that the kids could run and water would shoot out of the ground. It only costed us 5 bucks to get it! We had an awesome time but like usual little miss let us know when it was time to go.

The love of my life finally called today and just made my day:) He sounded great today...which I was glad about because he normally sounds really tired . James is the kind of guy that wouldnt tell me if he was sad or missing home, he can be mysterious like that. He requested peanut butter cookies and pictures, which kind of told me that he is for sure missing home! Well anyways guys take care and hope you enjoy:)
